Dog-Friendly Tricity: Dog Beaches, Forest Trails and Promenades in Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia
The Tricity area is one of the best places in Poland for dogs by the sea: Gdańsk's designated dog beach at Brzeźno operates year-round, Sopot and Gdynia opened their beaches to dogs under new 2025 rules, and Tricity Landscape Park offers kilometres of forest trails. A lead is required everywhere outside dog runs - on guarded bathing beaches in July and August dogs are allowed outside lifeguard hours only.

Dog beaches in the Tricity - how it works
Polish beaches run on two modes: the summer bathing season (mainly July-August) and the rest of the year. On guarded bathing beaches in season, dogs are banned during lifeguard hours. Outside those beaches, outside those hours, and outside the season - it depends on each town's rules.
The good news: from 2025, all three Tricity cities significantly improved access for dogs.
Gdańsk - Psia Stacja at Brzeźno
At Brzeźno beach, between entries 34 and 36, there is Psia Stacja (Dog Station) - a fenced, equipped dog zone with agility obstacles and waste bins. It operates year-round, including in summer when the adjacent guarded bathing beach is off-limits to dogs. On other guarded Gdańsk beaches (including Stogi), dogs are banned in July and August approximately between 09:45 and 17:15. Check current hours and signage on site - they may vary by season.
Sopot - new rules from 2025
Until 2025, Sopot had a seasonal dog ban - that has changed. Dogs are now allowed on Sopot beaches year-round. In summer, the ban still applies on guarded bathing areas during lifeguard hours. Two beach sections on the border with Gdynia and Gdańsk remain unrestricted for dogs even at peak season. Check current rules before visiting - the town of Sopot publishes them on its website.
Gdynia - the biggest change of 2025
Gdynia went furthest: 2025 rules opened all beaches to dogs except guarded bathing areas during lifeguard hours (09:30-17:30 in season). This is a radical change compared to previous years when access was very restricted. Check current rules on gdynia.pl - the city communicates updates as they happen.
Tricity Landscape Park - forest right next to the sea
Tricity Landscape Park is a large forested area stretching between Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot - a unique combination of seaside and real woodland in the same place. Dogs are allowed throughout the park with a lead at all times. Exception: nature reserves within the park are completely off-limits for dogs under Polish nature protection law. Look for signs at reserve entrances.
The area is vast and offers routes for every fitness level - from easy walks near residential areas to multi-kilometre hikes. Pack water and plan your route in advance - not every trail has water points or facilities.
Coastal promenades
Gdynia's Bulwar Nadmorski - a 1.5 km promenade along the harbour and sea - is one of the most popular walks in the city. Dogs on a lead are welcome here year-round. The same applies to Sopot's coastal promenade running parallel to the beach - dogs on a lead are fine, with no seasonal restrictions on the promenade itself (the bans apply to the guarded beach zone below).
