2. What Personal Data We Collect and Legal Basis
a. Location Data
With your permission, DOGOUT collects and stores your device GPS location to help you discover dog-friendly places and experiences. Location tracking is active
only when the app is in use or when granted background access by the user. Location data is stored securely for up to 1 year solely for feature functionality, recommendations, and safety reporting.
Legal basis: Your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
b. Account Information
When you sign up using Apple, Google, or email, we collect your name, email address, profile image (if provided), authentication, and device info.
Legal basis: Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) to provide you with the account and app features.
c. User-Generated Content (UGC)
Users can contribute public content, including reviews, ratings, photos, map markers (e.g., dog parks, water spots, cafes), and newly created dog-friendly locations. This content is publicly visible to other users by default, and providing
it is optional.
Legal basis: Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in building a community platform (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
d. Behavioral and Analytics Data
We collect anonymized usage data to improve our services, such as features you use, routes viewed, and interaction with maps and filters.
Legal basis: Our legitimate interest in improving app performance and user experience (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
e. Communication Data (Push Notifications)
If you opt in, we may send push notifications regarding community activities (e.g., walk invitations, new map events) and key app updates. You can opt out at any time via your device settings.
Legal basis: Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
3. Third-Party Services
- Supabase - for backend infrastructure, authentication, database, and hosting.
- Mapbox - to provide location services and map features. Mapbox employs data minimization (e.g., deleting IP addresses within 30 days) and does not track individual end-user profiles.
4. Data Retention
Location data is kept for up to 1 year. User accounts and UGC are retained until you request deletion. Some data may be retained temporarily for legal, security, or compliance purposes.
5. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and object to processing. Contact us at admin@dogout.app to exercise these rights.
6. How to Delete Your Data
You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app by going to Menu > Settings > Account. Alternatively, contact us from your registered email address at admin@dogout.app or via https://dogout.app/contact/. We will review and process your request in accordance with applicable laws.
7. Where We Store Your Data
Data is securely stored on Supabase cloud infrastructure exclusively within the
European Union (EU) in compliance with GDPR.
8. Data Sharing and Security
We do not sell your data. We use end-to-end encryption, secure authentication, and share data only with trusted processors for app functionality.
9. Child Safety Policy

DOGOUT acts solely as a connecting platform for dog owners. We are not responsible for what happens during meetups, dog behavior, or any damages incurred during joint walks. As a dog guardian, you are entirely responsible for controlling your dog. We guarantee that DOGOUT does not sell or share your personal data with
third-party marketing agencies or data brokers.
